Design Thinking for Digital Strategy

Digital Strategy is an area that lends itself well to applying design thinking process and techniques to.

In coming up with strategies for your digital businesses, you innovate around the customer’s experience; you look at the customer’s environment wholistically, you reframe the problems and situations in new ways. Calls for a structured process, need to brainstorm, evaluate options and choose from among them.

Here’s my take at the characteristics of problems that benefit from design thinking approaches

  • They are complex, with no well established solutions; rather one needs to explore options and be creative in addressing them each time
  • There is a need to drive a set of decisions with multiple stakeholders; their input into the solution is necessary
  • The problem calls for meeting people’s unmet or unspoken needs, to overcome constraints and barriers that may not be obvious
