Playing to Win Framework – Varasi Strategy in One Page

A.G.Lafley and Roger Martin have written a wonderful book on Strategy called ‘Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works’. The framework they use in this book to communicate strategy to the internal and an external stakeholder is very compelling.

The book says strategy is about answering 5 questions:

  • Who we are
  • Where we play
  • How we win
  • What capabilities must be in place
  • What management systems are required

For us at Varasi, this framework started as one we would use to distill down our understanding of our clients’ strategies; and has become a guideline for us to strategize about our own company.
